How Martin Got Here
Martin’s journey into Nordic walking wasn’t planned. In 2010, recovering from a knee injury, he picked up poles as a way to stay active without impact. What started as personal rehab turned into something bigger — a realization that Nordic walking could transform how people move, regardless of fitness level.
After completing his degree in physical education at Palacký University in Olomouc, Martin pursued his International Nordic Walking Association certification. He wasn’t content with just teaching classes. He wanted to understand the trails themselves — every elevation change, every surface condition, every seasonal variation.
That obsession led to his breakthrough in 2016. Over two years, Martin systematically documented 47 distinct routes across the Beskydy Mountains. He measured elevation gains, tested surface conditions, assessed difficulty levels, and created guides that became foundational to Czech Republic’s Nordic walking infrastructure. The Czech Hiking Association recognized his work for its scientific rigor and safety protocols.
When he joined Zephyronix in 2019, Martin expanded beyond Beskydy. He developed comprehensive guides for Jeseníky ridge paths and created accessible flat terrain courses for lowland regions. He’s published over 120 articles on technique refinement, injury prevention, and route selection — all drawn from his sports science background and direct experience teaching hundreds of walkers annually.

Why Technique Matters
“Proper technique isn’t about being perfect. It’s about efficiency, safety, and enjoyment. When someone learns to use their poles correctly and move with proper posture, they’re not just walking — they’re training their entire body without impact. That’s the power of Nordic walking. But you’ve got to learn it right from the start.”
Martin’s philosophy stems from his background in sports science and his personal recovery experience. He’s seen what happens when people approach Nordic walking casually — they miss the benefits and often develop poor habits that lead to strain.
That’s why he approaches route documentation with the same scientific rigor he applies to technique instruction. Every trail guide he creates includes information about surface conditions, elevation changes, and recommended pace. He’s not just telling you where to walk — he’s explaining how to walk it safely and effectively.
His published articles on technique refinement, injury prevention, and route assessment reflect this commitment. Martin believes that accessible doesn’t mean easy. It means thoughtfully designed, properly guided, and scalable to your current fitness level.

“Martin’s route guides aren’t just lists of trails. He’s actually thought through the details — where you’ll struggle, where the views are best, what season makes sense. Followed his Beskydy guide last summer and it was perfect. The difficulty ratings were spot on.”
Martin was our instructor at a company wellness program. Honestly, I thought Nordic walking was just for older people. But his technique instruction actually made it feel like a real workout. Didn’t realize how much I was using my whole body until he pointed it out. I’ve been going twice a week since.”
